Art Studio Adventures

Olive and I visited a friend’s art studio today. The paintings this woman makes are gorgeous and one will now hang in Olive’s bedroom. I wrote in my notebook and read an old Best American Poetry. Olive played with a toy, and the painter painted. The light did its slanted light winter thing. Other artists stopped by to say hello and show what they were working on. I kept thinking how I was out in the artist world with my daughter and how she was already meeting her first visual artists. She threw her toy around and rolled from side to side and laughed at her own jokes. We ate lunch at Mark’s Kitchen, which was voted one of the best cheap eats in the Washingtonian, and ate sandwiches full of fresh vegetables. To keep The Olive happy in the car (not easy) I chanted in Hindu and then chanted her name over and over. She seemed to like it. She could be a future yogi. What a good day! I’m grateful to have creative and smart people in my life.
